In the movie "Erin Brockovich", she sobbed out those words, "but... I had a tiara!" in the midst of turmoil in her life. They struck a poignant chord with me because so many women have shared with me their disappointments, failures, and how things just don't turn out they way they expect them to. This can be cause for such discouragement and a pitfall for many to have poor self esteem, fall into The Perfection Trap, and to feel hopeless. I, too, have had my own tiaras. They were not mostly in the form of an actual crown on my head. They came in the form of expectations, captured in the snapshot moments way back when, that I thought defined who I would become and what my life would be. At times I have been disappointed. But I am discovering more and more that, though sometimes the journey is hard, the tiaras I get to keep, and the ones I am (often unexpectedly) given in exchange for others, are the ones who grow me into being who I was created to be. Life takes many twists and turns, some good and some bad, and it never turns out exactly the way you thought it would -- back when you had a tiara....

Ramblings

I believe firmly that friendship among women is a gift. Each and every one of my friends is part of the fabric of who I am. They are witnesses to my life, and I to theirs. To me, this is a privilege.

I treasure sincerity. I feel safe and secure with friends who are real, who are themselves without having to prove anything to me, or I to them, yet who hold me to a higher standard to be all that God created me to be. I love the variety of friends I have. Each of them is so unique.

If you know me, you will sense a familiarity with what I write.

I will ramble on, take lots of bunny trails, say random things and probably have no real order to many of my thoughts --pretty much how I talk in casual conversation. In fact, this blog might be a place where I sometimes find clarity. A place where I can kind of organize my thoughts in my head. Or get them written down so I don't have to store so many!

"What you see is what you get" -- I hope I am relatable and humble and open. This is a place for me to sort through my feelings and write about my life. Come and share it with me.
